Compliance

How we develop and validate

The Standards for RTOs 2025 took effect on 1 July 2025. Our resources are developed and validated against them, and the mapping and validation records are supplied with each unit so you can show your own evidence.

Our six-stage development process

  1. 1

    Unit analysis

An instructional designer unpacks the unit of competency and the Companion Volume Implementation Guide, listing every requirement that must be trained and assessed.

  2. 2

    Industry authoring

Content is written or reviewed by a practitioner currently working in the relevant CHC sector, so scenarios reflect real services, policies and client needs.

  3. 3

    Assessment design

Tasks are designed to collect sufficient, authentic, current and valid evidence, with conditions drawn directly from the unit's assessment conditions.

  4. 4

    Mapping

Every task and question is mapped to the unit. Gaps are closed before the tool goes to validation.

  5. 5

    Independent validation

A qualified assessor who did not write the tool validates it against the principles of assessment and rules of evidence and records the outcome.

  6. 6

    Release and monitoring

The unit is version-controlled and released. We monitor training.gov.au and regulator guidance and issue updates as required.

What the Standards expect

  • Training and assessment is consistent with the training product and the Companion Volume Implementation Guide
  • Assessment is valid, reliable, fair and flexible, and evidence is sufficient, authentic, current and valid
  • Assessment tools are validated before use and assessment practices and judgements are validated afterwards
  • Learners receive clear information, reasonable adjustment and opportunities for re-assessment
  • Facilities, equipment and resources match the assessment conditions, including work placement
  • Trainers and assessors hold the required credentials and industry currency

Summary only. Refer to the Standards for RTOs 2025 and ASQA guidance for the full requirements.

Rectification guarantee

What the guarantee covers

If a VET Scholar assessment tool used as supplied is formally found non-compliant during an ASQA audit or internal validation, we will:

  • Rectify the tool and issue an updated version
  • Prepare a written technical response you can include in your submission to the regulator
  • Review any related units in your licence for the same issue

Conditions

  • The tool was used as supplied, with changes limited to branding, formatting and the contextualisation fields we mark as editable.
  • The licence is current and the unit is the latest version we have released.
  • You provide the audit report or validation record and the tools submitted within 30 days of receiving the finding.
  • The guarantee covers the content of our tools. It does not cover how the tools were administered, trainer and assessor credentials, or evidence collected by the RTO.

We don't guarantee audit outcomes. Compliance depends on your whole assessment system, not only the documents, so no supplier can promise it.

Your responsibilities

What your RTO still needs to do

Resources are one part of an assessment system. Before delivery, your RTO should:

Contextualise

Adapt scenarios, policies and client profiles to your learner cohort and delivery mode without removing unit requirements.

Validate

Include our tools in your validation schedule. Our pre-use validation record is a starting point, not your whole record.

Align the TAS

Confirm the packaging, delivery mode, resources and placement arrangements in your Training and Assessment Strategy.

Train your team

Ensure assessors use the marking guides and decision rules consistently.

Request a sample unit

We send a complete unit and a written price list so you can review the documents before purchasing.
